Dancing Through the Wilderness

Dancing in waist deep flowers with my love as we wait on sunrise. We twirl and spin, He dips me and my hair touches tickles the grass below.  We continue to waltz until I need to rest my feet, then two sets of footprints become one, He carries me like He carried me on Calvary.

He prepares picnic before me while I rest, He feeds me.

I rest in His arms until we dance again.

How to Wait on God

Waiting on things we want is not an easy feat, at least at times not for me, especially when it feels like forever. I'm not talking about a week or a month, I'm talking about YEARS!  I'm a go getter but now, I'm a go waiter who is dancing through the wilderness with her King while she waits on her NOW.

Why the wilderness? Well, one definition of wilderness includes being part of a garden devoted to wild growth or an area that's uncultivated or uninhabited. Right now, it's just He and I dancing through this wilderness. I'm dancing through because the wilderness is not the end result, I expect harvest, I'm just in the time phase of seed-TIME-harvest!  I'm not downcast, I have my moments, but I don't stay there. The wilderness is not that bad, I'm beginning to see it as a holding ground to greater. As I said before, I'm a go waiter! The wilderness has not been dry or destitute for me. God has provided in unexpected ways.

I know that my now is coming, it's just not here yet. I see myself getting closer to my promised land each day as seen seed that has been planted, begin to sprout. I heard someone say it's the time between the 'amen' and 'there it is.' In the meantime, I'll be dancing!

While waiting and dancing through the wilderness, I've learned to continue to holdfast to expectations, wait with patience, be still, and rest. Ps, if you haven't already, check out the Not Now message here!

  • When you wait, wait in expectation. Wait knowing that your time, your due season is approaching, it may not be now, but you're one more day closer to it. Expect it, look out for it.
  • Wait with patience. God created in stages, with order. We are God's creation and He orders our steps in ORDER!  The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and he delights in His way. Ps 37:23
  • Be still. Silence those loud inner thoughts with speaking the word. Know that God is God and His timing is perfect. I know it's cliche but, the right thing completed at the wrong time is still...wrong!
  • Rest. Let the Lord handle everything. The Lord will fight for you, you only need to be silent. Ex 14:13-14

Why Waiting on God is Important

Waiting allows your seed to fully develop. I don't know about you, but I don't want to eat undercooked chicken or strawberry that's still a flower. I don't want a harvest that is not ready for me to harvest because if it's not ready, it's not ripe. Just because a harvest is quick doesn't mean is good. Take Mark 4:5-6,  And some fell on stony ground, where it had not much earth; and immediately it sprang up, because it had no depth of earth; But when the sun was up, it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered away. In essence, the seed was sown and grew very fast but the elements killed it because it wasn't firmly planted or deeply rooted.

Waiting allows you to grow roots, gaining depth so when the elements come (life happening) you are solid, you may bend, but you won't break or whither away because you are planted indepthly by the Living Water. Your roots need depth.

Waiting develops YOU. It builds YOU, it works your inside muscles preparing you for the harvest ahead. While you wait, use your time wisely, develop a skill that will help you. For instance, listen to a marketing podcast to sharpening your marketing skills or search You Tube for a cooking show and learn a new technique. What can you develop while you wait?

You know what I'm going to do, I'm going to dance!
