Standing here looking at the sling and stone in my hand. It doesn’t look equipped to handle the goliath of a mountain that lays ahead of me that is taller than Everest. Will this even work, will my stone fracture my opponent. I call on the Great God of the sky and lately He seems silent, I know He’s there….but He’s awfully quiet.
Have you ever felt the tools you have are not a match to face your opponent? It’s like in the movies where the villain has all the super armor, bullets, and big guns, and the good guy has only a knife or a simple hand gun for arsenal. You know the bringing a knife to gun fight kinda thing. Can I be real, I’ve felt like such more times than not. I’m like God, that’s a bazooka and I have a pen! Help!
I load my sling with my smooth stone and hope for the best as butterflies flutter frequently inside my chest. I have never faced a battle so huge, a life of trials and victories is what my life has come to… to think about it, that basically sums up the Believer’s life, you know being more than a conqueror. First stone in, no weapon formed against me shall prosper, EVERY tongue that rises up against me, MY GOD (that’s You Lord) SHALL CONDEMN.
My opponent takes a step back, I hit him but he’s still standing, darts flying at me all around, but I can’t retreat, my back is not covered, I’m not meant to retreat. I hold up my shield and grab another stone to sling. If God is for me, who can be against me…no one, even as darkness draws near, the light within me will obliterate what’s near. My opponent buckles, it’s time to hit him while he’s down. I gather stone upon stone in my sling. My mouth is violent with the Living Water and power that wrecked the grave. I continue rounds upon rounds until my opponent is dismantled or retreats.
One thing I’ve come to realize more and more is that we fight FROM VICTORY. We start victoriously as all is won through Christ. Trials will come. Life will happen. But God! When trying times try you, go deep within your shondo and tell life But God, my God’s power is in me. When life throws curveballs bend. Know this, that fight is taking you to another level.
When God Seems Silent
Sometimes during our walk, God will seem as if He’s not there even though He’s ever present. Well, I want you to think about this, think about the eagle or any bird for that matter. What happens when it’s time for the birds to fly. The momma bird makes the nest super uncomfortable so the bird has no choice but to vacate and the only way to vacate is to fly. The bird leaps from the nest, but momma is near. If momma sees that the baby bird hasn’t thought to flap its wings, momma comes to help. Momma bird is sitting in the cut watching because at some point the baby has t o grow up. I guess what I’m saying is it’s time for you to fly. It’s time for you to use the word that’s within you.
When God seems silent, He wants you to draw closer to Him. God wants more time with YOU! He wants your relationship to further blossom. And you do that by spending time with Him. That might look like listening to a sermon on the way to work or an extra coffee and Jesus day. Bottom line is, God wants more time with you. #jealousGod
Additionally, when God seems silent, He’s watching. He’s waiting to see how you’re going to handle Situation X with the word that you already know. Know that you’re leveling up. Own the Word. Speak the word. Believe the word. As we all know, if it is written, then our uncertainty is unnecessary. If it’s in the Bible, then it must be true, unless God is a liar and He is most certainly not. Use the word that you have.
You might be thinking what word, I can barely remember book, chapter and verse. Meeee toooo! Good thing is, you don’t need to give a book, chapter, and verse to speak the word. You have a depth of God’s Word in you. Have you ever found yourself speaking the word whether through prayer or uplifting yourself and you do a double take like where did that come from?! I like to say it came from your shondo, all those times you were putting the Word in through a book, sermon, podcast, or bible. The word was feeding your spirit. And when your spirit needed to speak, it had something to say, something to fight with because you gave it something to work with.
Give God something to work with, give your spirit something to fight with. Put word in get WORD out.
Standing here, with my sling and stone knowing that I’m fighting FROM Victory and my battle is won. I have enough arsenal to withstand a multitude as I’m quenched from the well that NEVER runs dry.
Right foot before left, I march into battle screaming BATTLE CRY!
I will not be silent, I’m turning all the way up with my sword held high that can slice through cement like butta Dripping in the blood of Jesus, like Jesus, I’m victorious throughout all seasons
Riding through death’s valley, fearing nothing for my sword is dripping with the fire of the word of God You hear that, I do, I’m laughing in the face of my adversary who had the audacity to try the God in me…BIG Mistake
You messed with the wrong one, I know who I am, jokes on you
