Coffee please, while I take a load off my feet. Bags down, shoes off, it’s time to regroup before the retreat. Grab a bite to eat, get stronger because this journey is far from over.
Between the amen and there it is, are layovers that happen in life, simply stopping points until the final destination. While in layover, it’s time to rest. Notice, I didn’t say not to do anything, I stated, rest. Rest is ACTIVE in the Kingdom. Let me take you to school for a minute, the word layover is a verb and verbs do things, that means it shows action! I took a recent trip to Louisiana. While on the way back home, I had a 2 hour layover, which turned into three! While on layover, waiting to board my flight, I waited…with the expectation and peace that my flight would be called and I would be on route home. I like to think of actively waiting as believing and expectation while blanketed by peace.
When life hands layovers, search for what you’re expecting. To find what you’re looking for, you have to know WHAT you’re looking for. That can be a new building, a house, a car, a new job… How you’ll arrive at your destination doesn’t matter, it’s above your paygrade, that’s a God thing. It’s our job to believe and seek, wait, and rest, again rest is active in the Kingdom. As I was on my airport layover, waiting to get home, I didn’t know exactly HOW aerodynamics work and I still don’t, I just knew I was getting home and guess what, I arrived!
What layovers are you experiencing in your own life?
How are you handling them?
Resting and being still is sometimes easier said than done, especially when you’re a planner like me. I like to know what, how, when, and where! This works for the natural world, but in the Kingdom, sometimes I get all twisted up! That’s when I have to say “Heaven to Jaleesa, His ways and thoughts are not mine, they are much higher.”
Jaleesa and the BIG Layover
I’m currently on layover in my life. You know when you’re in the airport and you head to the gate that is supposed to take you to your destination and you wait at that gate for hours only to have the gate change to another one… on the opposite side of the airport and you now have to gather your carry-ons, travel to the next gate only to wait some more because there’s a flight delay…that’s me. However, I’m choosing to rejoice in the fact that the delay is NOT a denial, it’s more of a not yet….it’s almost time type of thing. Life happens in seasons and the great thing about seasons is that they change, it doesn’t stay winter forever, there’s always tomorrow. Don’t let feeling make you miss your flight.
To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven. Ecc 3:1
